Update 1.52: Zinit is Ours!

Only one weekend left before we throw ourselves head first into a new update! Starting on Tuesday, March 21st, Update 1.52 will take us to the assault on Mount Zinit!

Some players took advantage of the Beta to explore and test content from the new update ahead of time. Everyone else will have to wait ‘til next Tuesday but you might already have an idea of what’s coming thanks to the devblogs on Update 1.52’s three main subjects.
 

Mount Zinit, Part One!


Trek through new lands and take on new challenges waiting for you in the new territory! Mount Zinit Part One is designed for players of levels 50 to 140 and includes:

  • 3 zones divided into 5 ecosystems. The Astrub model applied at the end of last year is also applied in the new zone! New mercenary quests, environmental quests and archmonsters to take on!
  • 1 main quest to discover
  • 5 dungeons to explore, each with its own touch of strategy... watch out!
  • 5 families of monsters to fight
  • Hundreds of new items (including new epics) and resources to collect
  • The possibility to increase an item’s rarity up to “legendary” rarity (“mythical” for items below level 110) by crafting!


Get ready to fight hard before the second part of Mount Zinit appears out of the clouds, with even tougher challenges!

Dungeons Leaderboard


The logical development from Stasis dungeons, the dungeons leaderboard lets you compare your progress in the dungeons and rank yourself against other players. To be ranked, it’s simple:

  1. Tick the “Competitive mode” box in the dungeon’s opening interface
  2. Select your Stasis difficulty level setting for the dungeon
  3. Make it through all of the dungeon’s rooms alive!

The higher your ranking, the more interesting gifts you'll collect!

Every month the rankings are set back to zero so you can try to improve your position on the leaderboard. Every month your progress is recorded in a special tab in the interface that lets you view past rankings easily.

Sacrier Revamp


After the survey published last January 26th on our website asking, “which class do you think needs improvement?”, Sacrier emerged at the top of the list! Consequently, we have slightly adjusted our original schedule to offer you this update, which improves the class and was initially planned for June!

On the program:

  • Tanking mechanic revised to strengthen the Sacrier’s main role – taking the hard knocks!
  • Greater synergy between the branches. The Fire/Earth branch lets you focus your gameplay on damage and the tank mechanic, while the Fire/Air branch lets focus your gameplay on damage and positioning.
  • New mechanics, especially in punishments
  • The passive spell “Clinging to Life” is more interesting
  • Lots of other things for you to discover!

Get ready for a new hard-hitting event! The first Boss Smasher is here, with the title: "The Celestial Celestian" up for grabs! Visit the Stasis-version of the Celestial Praries Dungeon from March 25 to 27!

Boss Smasher is the new monthly meet-up for anyone who wants to outdo themselves! Once a month, we're giving you the chance to stand out from the crowd in a dungeon adventure unlike anything you've seen before. It goes without saying that you won't just be resting on your laurels!

On the program for this first iteration: the Stasis Celestial Praries Dungeon, level 11+ minimum in competitive mode (using Adjustable Level System). Are you hungry for success and eager to push past limits? Then prove it with this first Boss Smasher, in which you might be able to win the title: The Celestial Celestian!

There will a brand new Boss Smasher for you to beat each month. At the end of the year, you'll get a reward that will depend on the number of bosses you've defeated. Amongst the prizes on offer there might be an exclusive costume or, for the braver among you, an exclusive pet!

Have you ever imagined your favorite character playing your favorite instrument? No? Well, it’s time to think about it! Take part in a drawing contest on a “rock ‘n’ roll” theme and win one of the prizes up for grabs! You have until April 10th, 5 PM UTC!.

 

The principle is simple as a riff by the Ramones: draw the class, NPC or monster of your choice playing an instrument, alone or in a band! Tada!

Having given you a basic outline, let’s now take a look at a few conditions for the contest.
 
  • Stick to the theme: sounds simple enough, but let’s err on the side of caution... For instance, a WAKFU character playing an instrument.
  • Publish your fan art in the subject posted "in the dedicated entry thread" before Monday, April 10th, 5 PM UTC.
  • To publish your image: put it online first on a server designed for this purpose, for example imgur.com. Then visit the forum (at the link above) and post your drawing using the following code if needed: [img]LinktoYourImage[/img].
  • Edited messages will no be taken into account. To delete your message and post another one, change the first message by including the comment “Deleted” and post your new message.
  • You can only post one fan art picture.
  • Your work must respect our Terms of Use and Forum Rules of Conduct.

GAMAKNA: Krosmaga Special Edition and #1

Many of you downloaded issue 0 of Gamakna, and shared your precious feedback with us. As such, we've fixed a few details, and found some new tools to optimize everything. Thank you! But there's no time to rest! Straight on to a special edition and issue 1. GO!  

Gamakna, the digital magazine that covers all Ankama news, is available in stores for free since February 17th, in French, English and Spanish. 
 

Generally speaking, you really enjoyed issue 0. That warms our hearts!
Depending on the community, one or two topics went under our radar, but we were able to restore them as time went by.

You reported a few display issues when using a browser, and you were right. We improved what we could, given the system we are using. Ultimately, though, we will keep recommending using mobile, tablet or smartphone to read the magazine.

GAMAKNA - KROSMAGA SPECIAL EDITION


Today marks the online release of a new issue of Gamakna! That's all there is to it!
As an exception, it doesn't cover all our universes, but one that has been in the news since the 22nd February. Krosmaga!
 


We told you about it when Gamakna hit the stores: it's the GAMAKNA - KROSMAGA SPECIAL EDITION! That's right, a Special Edition before the series has even begun... but we weren't going to push back the release of the game for such petty considerations!

It might not feel relevant to all our communities (after all, it's the same universe and there was talk of an RT & Follow on social media...), but in an effort to make it interesting to as many people as possible, we've tried to provide a beginner's guide to the card game of the gods of the Krosmoz, to ease you in and help you progress. You often ask us: "Hey, Ankama, when can we finally get our hands on Ogrest? He's going to give us a thrashing, isn't he?" So now the second part of Mount Zinit is announced, it's time to tell you a little more about this super ultimate battle...

Not content with drowning the World of Twelve with every tear in his body, Ogrest also wants to drown your delicate cheeks with every tear in yours. We can already see those delicious tears welling up at the mere idea of confronting this super-powerful creature.

It is indeed Ogrest himself that you'll be able to go head to head with in the next update!

Don't expect him to be beaten so easily, though... Currently, we're seeing a victory rate of 0.02% against Nogord. Ok, so he's a dragon and a powerful one at that, but we're talking about confronting Ogrest here! THE Ogrest, the one who'll use your bones as toothpicks. Well, that said, we'll very probably be in for a surprise!

We wouldn't dream of giving away any details about what you can expect from this epic fight. We just wanted to tell you about the rewards in store, if ever you manage to crush him: New Game +!
 

New Game+

New Game + is the admittedly-not-very-creative name of a new feature we would like to add to the game along with the fight against Ogrest.

Once Ogrest is defeated, it would allow your character to go back to level 1! Say goodbye to your equipment and your whole inventory (your costumes are safe!): a new life full of surprising rewards awaits your character in New Game +!

 

"Why would I want to do that?", you may ask. 

 

Once you're back to level one, you can no longer trade with other players or take items from the ground or from guild or account chests. This means you won't be able to equip your newly-demoted level 1 character with old items that have been gathering dust in your chests all these years...

You will, however, unlock new rewards to make your life easier, speed up your progress and help you return to max level a little faster. Your character's XP will be increased by 15% (!) until level 175, then will go back to normal for the 25 remaining levels.

But that's not all! Exclusive rewards will allow you to showcase your achievement to the masses:

  • Your nickname will appear in green when you talk to other players!
  • A star (*) will be displayed at the end of your nickname! Kill Ogrest a second time, and you'll get a second star, up to 5 stars in total!
  • You'll unlock a new 9 square mount: Ogrest himself!

Fleaster: it's Wodent Hunting Season!

Etnop isn't the type to put all his Dofus in one basket. For Fleaster this year, not only can you collect Kwak eggs so you and your friends can make yourselves a giant omelet, but also, so you can taste the delights of braised Wodent with prunes! And for the truly greedy ones among you, there's also a scratch card game!

Just like on the same date each year, male Kwaks – same with the females – feel like they're ten feet up in the air… and start laying eggs! It's enough to delight the World of Twelve's chefs, so on Fleaster, they're revising their menu and are offering variations – sometimes a little harebrained – of this meal, loved by Twelvians the World over. 

But be careful of indigestion! Because, as the famous proverb says: "At Fleaster, if you don't want to end up with your head in a bag, don't eat too many eggs from a Kwak".

Blocking a thief via text message

Your cellphone number can save the day! A simple text message can now stop account theft.

Text message services follow one after another, but aren't all the same. Let's look at the latest one: securing your account via text message.

This new feature allows you to respond effectively in the event of account theft (whether you notice it as it's happening or afterwards). In a few seconds, you can inform us of an account theft from the dedicated interface and ask for a verification code to be sent via text message. Once you've entered it, the account is placed under protection, which causes the thief to be kicked from the game, and temporarily disables logging back in.

You can then change any account details that may have been compromised (password, secret answer, and e-mail address) and safely return to your favorite game.

Text messages: essential allies to your Ankama account

Having appeared just over a year ago, text message services allow you to perform "sensitive" actions on your account (recovering a password, disabling protections, making fast payments, etc.).

The principle is simple: we send you a verification code via text message to the cellphone number associated with your account, you enter it correctly, and we give you control over your account. Free*, simple, fast: these services make your life easier as a player!

There's one condition: you need to associate your cellphone number with your Ankama account. Don't hang around; it'll only take a few seconds!

* This does not include any additional charges that your cellphone operator may charge you for receiving text messages.

The "Astrub Model"

But what's hiding behind these two words that you may encounter in the changelog? Find out more in this article!

The "Astrub Model" is a collection of changes being gradually implemented across several game areas in the aim of making all types of in-game activities more attractive.

  • Through Environmental Quests (EQ) you can get a new resource which is indispensable for all professions' recipes.
  • Mercenary Quests, Hunter Quests, achievements and dungeon bosses can win you tokens to spend in the dungeon machines.
  • Monsters, machines, dungeons and recipes give you items, that can either be destroyed to create powders or improved through the use of these powders.


Below, you will find all the details about what these changes will entail, as and when they are added to the game in the updates.
 

Where Can I Get Items With a Specific Rarity?


Common (white)

  • Quite common drop from monster families.

 

Rare (green)

  • Quite rare drop from monster families.
  • Quite common drop from boss.
  • From the machine, inexpensive.
  • A Simple Recipe.
  • A simple "improvement" recipe for a "common" item.

 

Mythical (orange)

  • Quite rare drop from Boss.
  • Quite common drop from Ultimate Boss.
  • Quite rare drop from a monster at the head of a monster family.
  • Quite rare drop from an Archmonster.
  • From the machine, but expensive.
  • An Average Recipe.
  • An average "improvement" recipe for a "rare" item.

 

Legendary (yellow)

  • Pretty rare drop from an Ultimate Boss (at the moment, they're virtually non-existent).
  • An ultimate "improvement" recipe for a "mythical" item.


 

Recipes, Improvements and Machines in More Detail


Recipes

All recipes (classic and improvement) contain several ingredients that are essential to craft an item:

  • A resource that you get from recycling items, which is none other than powder. You have to break items of the same level to obtain it. Remember that powder can also be used to create runes to optimize your items.
  • A resource from environmental quests which is used to stick all the other items together, known as Souper-Glou.
  • Components and other refinements related to the type of item you want to craft. Each harvesting profession and crafting profession has a component and a refinement, and they can be crafted using two different resources of the same harvesting profession.


Next, the classic and improvement recipes contain several ingredients, including the following:

  • Common resource from the monster family
  • Rare resource from the monster family
  • Boss resource
  • Component or refinement or harvest resource.



Improvements

First of all, what is an improvement? It's the act of improving your rare item (green) into an item of superior rarity: a mythical (orange) item with the same characteristics, but with better values! At high levels, this mythical item can also be improved into a legendary (yellow) item, which is even stronger again.

Improvements are carried out by the usual professions depending on the type of item. Recipes will follow the same model, but will be slightly simplified since getting the basic item already takes additional effort.


Machine and Tokens

You can also obtain items from machines, but how do they work compared to drops (getting items from monsters) or crafting (creating items)?

The aims of the machine are as follows:

  • Allow casual players to get items on a regular basis.
  • Attenuate the luck factor, which is part and parcel of drops. Remember that crafting items shares this same objective because it also lessens the luck factor.
  • Encourage a player to alternate their in-game activities. This now also applies to item crafting.


To buy items from the machine, you have to spend tokens. Let's take a look at how you get them.

  • As with everything else, tokens are specific to a level bracket, which means the tokens you get can be used in any machine of that level.
  • Each time you defeat a dungeon boss, you'll get tokens. It is the most recurrent reward (you can repeat the dungeon as many times as you like), but also the weakest.
  • You can get daily and weekly quests from the hunters, which is a good way of earning a lot of tokens. The weekly quest will ask you to defeat several bosses of a given level bracket, whereas daily quests will ask you to defeat a boss of your choice within this level bracket, to bring back monster seeds and common resources from the monsters.
  • You can also get tokens from mercenary quests, but these aren't repeatable. They're an easy way to get your first few tokens when you've just moved up to a new level bracket. Likewise, we also plan on adding a few to the main quests.
  • You can also get tokens for achievements. While more simple achievements are better suited to the previous objective, which is to get a few tokens easily at the beginning, more complicated achievements reward the players who complete them more generously.
  • Lastly, don't forget that you can win Modulox Tokens using the modulable level feature, which can be exchanged for any type of tokens.


 

Environmental Quests


Environmental Quests (EQ) are divided into four main categories:


Solo

You have a simple objective and a score to achieve. Once you’ve attained the objective, you receive your reward.

Solo EQ generally involve interacting with monsters or resources, or defeating monsters. A large number of monsters or resources appear and everyone should be able to take part without any problems.

Solo EQs can be recognized by their blue color.

 

Dash

Dashes reward those who manage to complete the objective set in the fastest time. Once you’ve attained the objective, you receive your reward.

Dash EQs generally involve interacting with one of 3 monsters or resources that have appeared, or defeating one of 3 monsters that have appeared.

Dash EQs can be recognized by their purple color.

 

Competitive

Competitive EQs reward the players with the best score. Unlike dashes, the objective is not pre-determined. The aim is to do better than the other players. This is why you only get the rewards at the end of the EQ. It can end after a certain amount of time or when there are no more actions left to complete.

Competitive EQs generally involve interacting with as many monsters or resources as possible, or defeating as many monsters as possible.

Normally, a lot of monsters appear. The winner gets the best reward and the person who comes second gets a less valuable reward. The others have lost.

Competitive EQs can be recognized by their red color.

 

Collaborative

Collaborative EQs are the most innovative type of quests compared to what you already know, and are also some of our favorite out of all the EQs. They are also the ones that give the best rewards, possibly tied with competitive EQs.

Collaborative EQs reward all players who contributed sufficiently, when the collaborative objective has been reached.

Collaborative EQs generally involve interacting with all of the monsters or resources that have appeared, or defeating all of the monsters that have appeared. Normally, around fifty groups of monsters will appear for you to defeat, or around a hundred resources or monsters with which you'll have to interact.

And for that, you'll need to get yourselves organized! There is a minimum level of participation required to get the reward, and this will only happen if the collaborative objective has been achieved.

Collaborative EQs can be recognized by their green color.

Amongst the collaborative quests, you will also find hordes and invasions.

 

Hordes

Hordes can only appear when all the wishes of the zone’s clan master (CM) have been respected.

Around ten groups of 8 monsters appear, each with a dominant monster.

Dominants are an even stronger version of the strongest monster in the family. They have one or two specific objectives to be attained. They also give tons of experience.

Be careful, though, hordes only appear for a short time and they must all be defeated to get the even greater rewards. You’ll need to be organized!

You have to take part in at least one fight to get collaborative rewards.

 

Invasions

There is a very slight chance of invasions appearing.

When an invasion is occurring in a zone, all players in this zone will be notified so you can join in and fight off the invasion.

Once again, a minimum participation is required to win rewards and you will be generously rewarded if you manage to chase off all the monsters.

 

Archmonsters

In each zone, an archmonster may appear at rare intervals, and only once every few hours.

Archmonsters have one or two specific objectives to be attained. Normally, these monsters are as strong as the boss of their family of monsters.

 

But that's not all...

We've also made big improvements to the way EQ objectives are displayed. At any time, you can see how many monsters and resources have appeared, how many actions you have to complete in total, how many you have already completed, and how many are left in the whole zone.

The environmental quest monsters you’ll be meeting will no longer be “weak” versions of other monsters. They will be as strong as the monsters that you normally come across in the zone you’re playing in. What’s more, they will only give you a normal amount of XP.

All EQs have an internal cooldown that will only let them appear in the same zone after a certain amount of time has passed, even if all the conditions have been met.

 

Environmental Quest Rewards

We're also reviewing the rewards you can win from these!

Now you can get Souper-Glou from each environmental quest. This special resource is used in all equipment recipes. Nothing less!

In addition to the XP you get from environmental quest monsters, they also give you XP bonuses, making them even more profitable!
 

More Dynamic Dungeons

 

A Varied Experience

The overall dungeon strategy might be fun, but doing the same thing over and over again isn't. Not to mention it rewards players who stick to the exact same strategy every time, rather than developing their fighting skills through good adaptability. This is why we wanted to shake up the game experience as must as possible when you're inside a dungeon:

  • The level of monsters varies, which changes some of their characteristics, as well as their initiatives, slightly randomizing the order in which they play.
  • Starting positions for the monsters are gone, which means they won't always start in the same place.
  • Monster may be victims of a Stasis Affix, which will give them additional effects.
  • Mimics may appear during fights, which you will have to defeat to get rewards! We're planning to add similar random events in the future.

 

Automatic Dash in the Dungeon

To make life easier for everyone, the characters will run to the next dungeon room themselves once they've finished the room in question!

You can interrupt this movement at any time by clicking to move your character manually.

 

At the moment, these changes have been implemented in Astrub and Mount Zinit and will soon be active on Moon Island and in the Xelorium with the next update. They will be applied across the whole game over the course of the coming updates! Don't be surprised if we talk to you about the "Astrub Model" again in the future!

Following its launch on the Krosmaga website, and after a visit to the DOFUS.com website, this month the FanTape is coming to WAKFU.com! The idea is to promote a video and YouTuber each month to introduce (or reintroduce) them to the Ankama community. You can share your favorites with us too!
